How to Take Care of Plywood Furniture: Quick Guide

Keep it Clean

Dusting regularly is the need for plywood furniture. It would help if you kept in mind to avoid using harsh cleaners that can scratch the surface. You can use a mild water-damped cloth to wipe away any dirt or spills but at the same time you need to dry the surface immediately to prevent water damage.

Avoid Direct Sunlight

If you don’t want to fade or warp your furniture, protect it from direct and prolonged sunlight. So to protect from direct sunlight you may change the position of your furniture or use curtains and blinds to block out direct sunlight. If there is no choice but to keep it away from direct sunlight, then apply a UV protective coating to preserve its colour and finish.

Use Coasters and Mats

Too hot items or heat damage your furniture. So to keep it safe from water rings or heat damage cover it with mat or use coasters. This protects the furniture surface from stains, dirty marks and discolouration.

Control Humidity

Humidity change can have diverse impacts on furniture because plywood is humidity-sensitive. You may use the humidity controller as a dehumidifier in damp environments or a humidifier in dry climates.

Repair Minor Damage

Furniture can be repaired anytime which is the best part of it that is why never panic if you see any scratches or dents. Minor damage in furniture or plywood can be repaired easily. You can use a touch pen to match the furniture finish. For deep scratches use sandpaper and then apply the wood finish.

Lift, Don’t Drag

Always remember that you need to lift the furniture but not drag. Lifting the furniture will protect it from scratches and your floor. When you drag the furniture it can scratch the surface and weaken the joints, leading to structural damage over time. Sometimes lifting is not possible because of too heavy items, in that case, use furniture sliders.

Store Properly

In that case, if your furniture is not in use and you need to store it for a short or long period then you have to use some precautions to protect it. first of all, disassemble the furniture as much as possible to save space and to make wrapping up easy. Store it in a controlled environment and properly wrap it with a breathable fabric or kind of plastic sheet. Try to keep it safe from dust and debris.

Follow all such tips to better care your furniture and to maintain its charm. Applying little care and attention you can enjoy your furniture for a long time.
